China and Kuwait sign MoU on E-commerce Cooperation

On July 9, 2018, during the visit of Kuwait Emir Sabah’s visit to China, under the witness of the heads of state of China and Kuwait, Fu Ziying, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Commerce of China, and HE Khaled Nasser Abdullah Al-Roudan, Minister of Commerce and Industry of Kuwait In Beijing, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on E-Commerce Cooperation between the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Kuwait.

China and Kuwait are traditionally friendly. Kuwait is the first Gulf Arab country to establish diplomatic relations with China. It is also the first country in the world to sign a “Belt and Road” cooperation document with China. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 47 years ago, China-Kuwait economic and trade relations have developed steadily and pragmatic cooperation has continued to deepen. The prospects for cooperation between the two countries under the framework of the “Belt and Road” are very broad.

While deepening cooperation in traditional fields such as bilateral trade and project contracting, China and Kuwait are also actively exploring and expanding new areas of cooperation. According to the memorandum, China and the Kuwait will jointly create a good development environment for e-commerce, conduct regular government-level dialogues, promote local cooperation and public-private dialogue, and support the cooperation between enterprises of the two countries in e-commerce projects, especially through e-commerce to promote quality products and The import and export trade of services will open up new ways and new areas of Sino-Kuwait economic and trade cooperation through e-commerce, continuously improve the level of trade facilitation and cooperation, and further promote the sustained and stable development of bilateral economic and trade relations.
