Top political advisor meets Taiwan politician

Top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng on Thursday said cross-Strait ties need to be handled attentively but have a bright future, when meeting with Taiwan politician Yao Eng-chi.

“We must cherish the hard-won situation of peaceful development of cross-Strait relations,” Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, said here when meeting Yao and a delegation of lawmakers.

“Chinese people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait have the the wisdom and capability to overcome difficulties and continue peaceful development,” he said.

Yu also expressed his hope that Yao and his fellows, as well as mainland’s political advisors, can unite more compatriots across the Taiwan Strait for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
