The exploration of the shale gas in Chongqing is under smooth process, and it is expected that one-eighth of the gas fuel provided for local citizens and enterprises will be the shale gas by 2015.
Chongqing has introduced several American companies and cooperated with Sinopec, PetroChina, etc. on the shale gas exploration, aiming at drilling 150 to 200 wells by 2015, with an annual capacity of 1.3 to 1.5 billion cubic meters.
The city is likely to be the first place to have access to shale gas in China.
