The Development Planning of Chongqing Medical Industry (2012-2020) and Opinions on Building Hundred-billion-yuan Medical Pillar Industry of Chongqing Municipal Government have got approved on December 5, 2012. The total output value of above-scale enterprises of medical industry is expected to hit 100 billion yuan by 2017, and exceed 150 billion yuan by 2020, making the medical sector a one hundred-billion-yuan-level pillar industry.
The industrial output value of above-scale enterprises of medical industry (not including traditional Chinese medical materials planting) was only 23.3 billion yuan.
Chongqing is striving to form the industries including medical medicine, tradition Chinese medicine, medical equipment and health care products, biological pharmacy, medical supplementary materials and supporting modern medical industrial system, establish 4 major above-ten-billion-yuan-level characteristic industrial parks, biological medicine incubation parks, traditional Chinese medical materials planting & processing bases, 30 above-billion-yuan-level leading enterprises, and produce 150 key products with the single annual sales output value of over a billion yuan in 2020.
