The Workshop on Poverty Alleviation through Tourism in the “Golden Triangle” area of the Three Gorges, Yangtze River was convened in Wushan County on November 30.
The workshop proposed that by the end of the 12th Five-Year Plan, tourist arrivals in the “golden triangle” area will have surpassed 15 million, bringing more than 2 billion Yuan of ticket revenue.
The “Golden Triangle” area is located in the reservoir area of the Three Gorges, Yangtze River and is the hinterland of Qinling and Bashan mountainous region. Located in the junction area of Chongqing, Hubei and Shaanxi provinces, this area serves as Chongqing’s northeast gateway.
Restrained by the unfavorable development conditions, this region is confronted with incomplete industrial system, obvious industrial emptiness and low urban and rural incomes. As its economic indexes rank at the bottom in the municipality, this area is listed as a priority for poverty relief at the national level.
The “golden triangle” tourism region is oriented to build itself into a national demonstration area of alleviating poverty through tourism and a world-class tourist area for leisure. The area will take a series of efficient measures to build a series of high-quality projects and establish a demonstration area of alleviating poverty through tourism, so that it can enjoy a double-digit annual increase in both tourist arrivals and tourism revenue.
