United Company RUSAL, the biggest aluminum producer around the globe, announced its cooperation plan in Chongqing on November 30, 2012 and invited Chinese enterprises including those of Chongqing to establish shared factories in Siberian and explore the aluminum ore together.
For the moment, the electricity used by Chongqing aluminum producer costs 0.5 yuan/kilowatt-hour, but only 0.2 yuan in Siberian.
The annual production of electrolytic aluminum, the source of alumina, is less than 200,000 tons in Chongqing, and the demand for it is still increasing, so United Company RUSAL hopes to trade the import of electrolytic aluminum for Chongqing’s cooperation in exploring aluminum overseas together.
