Northeast China’s Liaoning Province issued a red alert for snowstorm on Monday morning, while closing an airport and expressways in the provincial capital of Shenyang.
Morning commuters found snow on ground was ankle high in Shenyang.
The provincial authorities have closed off the Xiantao International Airport, and more than 20 expressways in the province.
However, the Harbin-Dalian High-Speed Railway, which started operation on Saturday linking three provinces in the northeast China region, has not been affected by the stormy weather.
The provincial meteorological bureau forecast that the snow is likely to stop on Monday evening.
