China, Vietnam pledge to promote ties

China and Vietnam pledged to further promote their partnership on Saturday.

The pledge came out of a meeting between Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Hoang Binh Quan, the special envoy of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Also a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Liu conveyed CPC Central Committee General Secretary Xi Jinping’s greeting and good wish to Trong during the meeting.

He expressed gratitude for the Vietnamese central committee and Trong ‘s move to send a special envoy to China to deliver a congratulatory message to the new central leadership of the CPC following the just-concluded 18th CPC National Congress.

He said this fully demonstrated the importance they have attached to the development of China-Vietnam ties.

Liu briefed Hoang on the highlights of the congress, which concluded on Wednesday.
