According to Japan’s Kyodo News, the Japanese government has made a preliminary decision to appoint Masato Kitera, assistant chief Cabinet secretary, as the country’s new ambassador to China.
Speaking at a regular press conference Friday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told reporters that China is dealing with the rotation of Japanese ambassadors to China, according to international practices and relative procedures.
When asked what China expects from the next Japanese government on restoring relations between the two countries, Hong Lei said Japan should make concrete efforts with sincerity.
Hong Lei, spokesman of Chinese Foreign Ministry, said, “The relation between China and Japan is in an extremely critical situation now. The reason for that is clear. It is Japan who has launched the dispute. Japan should demonstrate sincerity and take concrete actions to solve the current problem. We hope for the Japanese side to make practical efforts to this end. ”
