Recently, the images of Chinese leaders like Mao Zedong and Liu Shaoqi vividly appear on the paper. Living in Wangjialong Community of Kaifu District in Changsha, Xu Mingxing with skillful hands cut the images of 25 Hunan heroes on the paper.
He said he loved paper-cutting when he was a child and he has restored his childhood dream after retirement. In order to do a better job in paper-cutting, he has attended the art training class and made innovations based on the traditional technique. His works are natural in techniques with unique features. The figures unify in image and spirit and the landscape sceneries are just like the real ones. He often goes to communities and schools to show his paper-cutting skills and coach others. Some of his works have been collected by people.
Xu Mingxing planned to cut the images of Hunan heroes on the paper themed “Good Children of the Party” before the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Until November 7, he has finished 25 figures.
