It is revealed that the Mausoleum of Emperor Yan has been approved as one of the eighth batch of State-level Scenic Areas by the State Council recently.
Covering a planning area of 111.86 square kilometers, the Mausoleum of Emperor Yan is situated on Luyuan Slope, 19 kilometers to the west of Yanling County, Zhuzhou City. It is known as the Key Cultural Relics Site under the State Protection, the National Patriotism Education Demonstration Base, the Patriotism Education Base for Returned Overseas Chinese, a national 4A scenic area, one of the Top Ten Cultural Heritages in Hunan, one of the Top Eight New Xiaoxiang Cultural Landscapes and the Best Scenic Area in Hunan.
There are in total 17 scenic areas in ten provinces (cities or districts) listed as the eighth batch of the State-level Scenic Areas, including four scenic areas in Hunan, namely, the Mausoleum of Emperor Yan, Fenghuang, Weishan Mountaion and Baishuidong.
