China hopes ROK will handle case impartially

China’s foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei says the Chinese government hopes and believes South Korea will handle the Liu Qiang case in an impartial way.

Liu Qiang a Chinese national, whose grand-mother was forced to become a comfort woman during the Second World War, is serving a ten-month jail term after being convicted of throwing a home-made petrol bomb at the Japanese Embassy in Seoul in January.

Both China and Japan have asked for his extradition. South Korea’s Justice Ministry on Friday ordered judicial authorities to deliberate whether Liu Qiang should be extradited to China or Japan after his jail term ends.
