Mobile phone virus ravages Chongqing

The quantity of mobile phone virus infection cases in the third quarter of 2012 exceeded the total amount in the first half of 2012, according to the mobile security report of the third quarter of 2012 released by China Mobile days ago.

Two-dimensional code and micro blog are new channels for viral transmission of mobile phone. It is noteworthy that Chongqing, a hard-hit area with an infection rate of 6.5%, ranks 5th in terms of risk factor for mobile phone security in China.

The report indicates that there are 23,375 malicious phone softwares being tracked and removed in the third quarter of 2012, exceeding the total amount (17,676) in the first half of 2012. Malicious softwares infect 9.91 million smart phones in total, and the mainland of China is the top victim in the world, with an infection rate of 23.3%, followed by USA with a rate of 20.5%.

Among the areas in the mainland of China, Guangdong Province is the most serious region hit by virus. Chongqing with the infection rate of 6.5% comes at 5th.

The report also shows that 60,000 mobile phone were infected by virus in the third quarter of 2012 alone, increasing the total amount to 260,000.
