Chongqing introduces Droughtmasters from Australia

Technicians are inspecting the droughtmasters in Yunyang County of Chongqing.

Yunyang County of Chojngqing introduced 98 stocks of droughtmaster from Australia on October 16, 2012. It was the first large-scale introduction of breeder droughtmasters in China, said Zhang Jian, director of the Three Gorges Branch of Chongqing Science Academy of Animal Husbandry.

This county spent nearly 3 million yuan buying the droughtmasters.

The droughtmaster is a tropical breed of beef cattle originally developed in North Queensland, Australia. With the traits of high drought resistance and heat tolerance, it is easily adaptable to tropical and subtropical zones.

The introduction of droughtmaster is conducive to the breeding improvement and efficiency, and the breeding and selection of new species in the breeding industry of beef cattle. This will further propel the sound momentum of beef cattle industry in Yunyang County and even in the whole city.
