The China Tennis Open 2012 concluded yesterday in Beijing with a wealth of global stars’ participation.
Top-seeded Victoria Azarenka won her fifth title of the year by dominating second-seeded Maria Sharapova 6-3, 6-1 at the China Open on Sunday.
On the men’s side, top-seeded Novak Djokovic extended his perfect record by defeating third-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France 7-6 (4), 6-2 in the final.
Although Chinese superstar Li Na was defeated by Maria Sharapova 6-4, 6-0 in the semifinals, she managed to dethrone the defending champion Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland 6-4, 6-2 and earned the final singles berth at this year’s WTA Championships.
Unlike the previous installment, this year’s tournament attracted a wealth of global stars such as Maria Sharapova, Novak Djokovic, Victoria Azarenka, Branislav Ivanovic, David Ferrer, etc.
The China Open is part of the ATP 500 Series of the 2012 ATP World Tour, and of the Premier Series of the 2012 WTA Tour.
