Chongqing’s hi-tech industry speeds up

The hi-tech industry of Chongqing (except telecom, post, scientific research, service of integrated technology and geographical exploration) realized a total output of 244.595 billion yuan in 2011, up 72.5% year on year, with the new product value of 116.16 billion yuan, up 89.8% year on year, and the added value of 73.832 billion yuan, up 77.1% year on year.

The data show that Chongqing’s hi-tech industry has been speeding up and plays a more significant role in supporting the economy of Chongqing, according to Chongqing Statistics Bureau on September 11, 2012.

It is reported that the added value of the hi-tech industry respectively accounted for 4.8%, 5.3%, 5.2%, and 7.4% respectively in Chongqing’s GDP from 2008 to 2011.
