Chongqing launches foundation & frontier research projects

Chongqing for the first time launched the plan for foundation and frontier research projects, each with a fund of 2 million yuan, to promote the basic research at home and abroad and the technical innovation in Chongqing, according to Chongqing Science and Technology Commission on September 3, 2012.

The plan aims at supporting innovation, the national “973” project, major scientific research projects and the National Natural Science Foundation of China and cultivating chief scientists for the “973” project and talents of technology. It orients on major scientific problems, national projects and talent-cultivation by using advantages in the foundation and frontier research in Chongqing and sources for scientific research inside and outside Chongqing.

The first projects will engage in 12 branches of 6 fields including agricultural science, information science, health science, material science, manufacturing and engineering science and interdisciplinary science, each with a fund of 2 million yuan.
