Top political advisor Jia Qinglin on Thursday urged the Hong Kong China Chamber of Commerce (HKCCC) to contribute more to sharpening the global competitiveness of mainland enterprises and better serving the country’s economic development.
Jia, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks while meeting with a visiting delegation of the HKCCC, a Hong Kong-based association that offers services for private companies on the Chinese mainland aiming for development in Hong Kong and around the world.
The HKCCC has close relations with the Hong Kong government and overseas trade associations in Hong Kong, and has helped mainland provinces and cities attract investment, said Jia, also chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
Jia added that the China Overseas Investment Summit, an annual summit hosted by the HKCCC to allow Chinese investors to engage in foreign projects, has gained more international influence.
He urged the HKCCC to implement the fundamental principle of “one country, two systems” and strive to maintain the lasting prosperity and stability of Hong Kong.
He also asked the association to promote the nation’s “go global” strategy and make more contributions to fostering the international competitiveness of Chinese enterprises as well as the modernization of China.
