Chongqing auto industry rallies in Jan.-Jul.

The output value of Chongqing’s auto industry in the first seven months of 2012 increased by 7.2% compared with that of 2011, keeping the same growth with that in the first half of 2012, according to Chongqing Economy and Informationization Commission on August 21.

The growth of Chongqing’s automobile sales volume exceeded that of China in April 2012 and the situation remained for the following months. The total sales volume began to rise in May, driving up the growth of sales volume in July to an output value of 25.8 billion yuan.

However, Chongqing’s auto output in February-July decreased by 10.5% compared with that of 2011 and then increased by 8.4% in July, 1% higher than that of the national average.

Chongqing’s auto output and sales are estimated to be low at first but rise in the following days in 2012. The output was over 2,400,000 vehicles in 2011, and is expected to hit 2,800,000 in 2012.
