Typhoon Haikui batters Jiangxi province

Rains triggered by typhoon Haikui have affected more than 130,000 people in Jiangxi province. About 10,000 residents have been relocated.

The city of Jingdezhen, which was hit hard, received more than 200 millimeters of rain. And with more rain in the forecast, the provincial meteorological station has issued a high-level alert.

Rains from the typhoon are moving westward, and caused flooding that stranded 12 trains running on the Wuhu-Guixi Railway, a railway line connecting Jiangxi province and neighboring Anhui province.

Repair work is under way. No casualties have been reported in Jiangxi so far.
