In the first half year of 2012, investment and consumption of Chongqing were steady and increased though domestic macro-economy was slow. In the six months, investment in Chongqing reached 373.5 billion yuan, increasing by 23.1% year on year, 2.7% higher than national average; total social retail sales of Chongqing hit 192.982 billion yuan with a growth of 15.9%, 1.5 % higher than national growth, according to relevant government departments of Chongqing.
Investment contributed to 57.5% of Chongqing’s economic development in the first half year of 2012. The month-by-month growth in the first half year of 2012 was generally between 20% and 23%. Investment in June 2012 realized 89.3 billion yuan, hitting a new record of Chongqing’s investment in a single month.
