Public buildings with a total area of 4 million square meters in Chongqing, including schools, hospitals and government buildings will be reconstructed into green buildings in 2012 and 2013, in order to reduce the energy consumption per unit area of Chongqing’s public buildings and large-scale buildings by more than 20% and 30% respectively, according to Chongqing Urban-Rural Development Commission on July 23, 2012.
