Belarus and China to jointly build a communications satellite

Friday in Minsk, chairman of Belarusian State Military-Industrial Committee Sergei Gurulev told reporters that Belarus and China plan to sign a contract for jointly making a communications satellite. In Belarus, the contract will be signed by the state company “Accurate Electromechanical Plant”, and with Chinese corporation “Great Wall”.

Sergei Gurulev also clarified that the loan for the project will be provided by the Export-Import Bank of China. However, the loan for the joint project needs the approval of the State Council of China.

During the first six months, Belarusian and Chinese will conduct joint control of satellite operation, after which all control systems will be transferred to the Belarusian side.

As for the ground infrastructure for satellite control, Gurulev says it will be managed from the territory of Belarus.
