In the face of an economic downturn both at home and abroad, the foreign investment in actual use of Chongqing’s industry reached 1.374 billion US dollars in the first 5 months of 2012, up 96% year on year and accounting for 52.3% of the total (2.625 billion US dollars) in Chongqing, according to Chongqing Economy and Informationization Commission on June 18, 2012.
The utilization of the foreign investment amounting to 1.374 billion US dollars involves 117 industrial projects, among which are 8 projects including HP Settlement Center, Quanta Computer, Hankook and BASF, etc. totaling 783 million US dollars, 57% of the foreign investment of all industries.
The foreign investment in use of laptop and its supporting industries accounted for 32.66%, and that of motorcycle and its supporting industries 15.12% in the first 5 months of 2012 , which kept them the major force among all industries in Chongqing regarding their actual utilization of foreign investment.
