China launched manned spacecraft Shenzhou-9 with first female astronaut

Chinese launched rocket “Changzheng 2F” with manned spacecraft “Shenzhou-9” from Jiuquan on June 16. There are two men and one woman on board, 33-year-old female astronaut Liu Yan becomes the first woman who went into space in Chinese space program.

It is known that the flight program includes docking with the orbital module of the spacecraft “Tiangong-1”, which was sent into space in September 2011.

China’s space program was launched October 8, 1956, when China established its fifth Defense Academy engaged in missile development. In 1964, China sent a rocket into space with two mice on board. In April 1970, China put its first satellite “Dongfanghong-1” into orbit.

On October 15, 2003 China’s first astronaut Yang Liwei was sent to orbot in spacecraft “Shenzhou-5”. In 2005, Fei Junlong and Nie Haisheng carried out a five-day flight in spacecraft “Shenzhou-6”.
