Chinese carrier “Varyag” may join the North Sea Fleet

According to CNA, China’s first carrier “Varyag” may join the North Sea Fleet and will be stationed in a naval port of Qingdao base.

Qingdao base is the southernmost of the three bases of the North Sea Fleet, from Qingdao the carrier “varyag” can effectively coordinate with the East Sea Fleet and South Sea Fleet when needed.

Analysts also pointed out that there will be no great help to deploy the carrier in the South China Sea, as it may even intensify the situation, while the East China Sea has a higher strategic position.
