In an interview with magazine “Global Views“, Han Han was quoted saying that after 60 years of the Communist regime, people in China have become “cruel and greedy, thus it is very likely to encounter chaos when promoting democracy in China.”
Hanhan pointed out that the democratization is inevitable in China, but the challenge will be much greater than in Taiwan.
Being an iconic figure of the 80’s generation, Han feels pessimistic about the future of the younger generation. “Compared to Taiwan, people in mainland suffer lower wages, higher prices, young people are getting more and more hopeless.”
Hanhan also stressed that the future of the younger generation can not be judged from the life of those white collars in Beijing and Shanghai because the people in lower social class have no time or capability to make their voices be heard.
