The throughput of Chongqing’s ports in the first 5 months of 2012 reached 48,258 million tons, up 13.1% year on year, according to Chongqing Transportation Commission on June 8, 2012.
The throughput of foreign trade goods made the largest increase, reaching 430 thousand tons in May 2012, up 61% year on year, and 1,730 thousand tons in the first 5 months of 2012, up 31.7% year on year.
And the throughput of standard containers also developed well, reaching 70,000 TEUs, up 30.7% year on year; and 321,100 TEUs in the first 5 months of 2012, up 26.4% year on year.
