Gansu Provincial Department of Education has suspended Japanese intellectual Yoshikazu Kato’s visit to Gansu agricultural university for the reason of his questioning the facts of the Nanjing Massacre, and claiming that the Diaoyu Islands are Japanese territory.
“The honor and self-esteem of nation can not be tarnished, this is the bottom line of the Chinese people,” said the Department of Education on its Weibo page.
Yoshikazu Kato (加藤嘉一) was invited by the microblogging Association (a student group) of Gansu Agricultural University. There were more than 200 people boycotting his visit on Chinese social networks. After the involvement of University administration, the invitation has been cancelled.
