Putin: Russia and China will maintain the military relationship

Russia and China will maintain a relationship between the military departments to ensure security in the Asia-Pacific region. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin after talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao.

“An important role is given to the joint initiative to strengthen security in the Asia Pacific region. In this context, of course, will support the relationship between our military establishments”, – Putin said, noting that both sides support the formation of open and equitable security cooperation architecture of the region, on the principles of international law.

Putin said that Russia and China will work together to fight terrorism, extremism, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, large-scale economic crises and to strengthen this cooperation in the framework of the UN, G20, BRICS, SCO and other international groups.

Putin said that during the talks both sides exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East, North Africa, the Korean Peninsula and the Iranian nuclear program. He noted that the approaches of Russia and China on these issues are “close and in tune.”
