Container ships from Yibin Port (宜宾), Sichuan arrived at Cuntan Port (寸滩), Chongqing safely on June 3, 2012, declaring the official start of the water carriage transfer of containers between the two ports.
Chongqing Port Logistics Group Co., Ltd. and Sichuan Yibin Port Economic Development Zone signed a strategic cooperative agreement on May 22, 2012, officially launching the water carriage transfer of containers between the two ports.
According to Cuntan Port, the tonnage of cargo ships at Yibin Port is about 1,000 tons a year, while that of Cuntan Port is above 5,000 tons a year. The logistic cost will be greatly saved for Yibin enterprises and the time to sea will be reduced by 1/3 if the goods at Yibin Port are transferred in short shipment to Cuntan Port.
After signing the strategic agreement with Yibin Port, Cuntan Port will achieve a throughput of 40,000 standard shipping containers per year. Next, Chongqing Port Logistics Group is actively taking into account the cooperation with Luzhou People’s Government and Luzhou Port of Sichuan Province to become the port of transfer for the goods from Luzhou Port to sea.
