Chongqing environment quality on rise

The environment quality in Chongqing was on the rise in 2011, announced Chongqing Environmental Protection Bureau on June 4, 2012.

The water quality of the Yangtze River, the Jialing River and the Wu River within Chongqing remained high in 2011. All of the 53 centralized drinking water sources in cities and 89% of the 1,014 such sources in villages and towns reached the quality standard.

The year of 2011 saw 324 days, namely 88.8% of the whole year of good air quality, a new record for Chongqing.

The main urban districts also kept their ambient noise and road traffic noise respectively at a stable average of 54.0 db and 68.0 db.
