The China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), one of the country’s top universities for political science and law, on Wednesday celebrated the 60th anniversary of its founding.
Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, extended his congratulations to the institution.
In a letter, Wu praised the university’s achievements in training high-quality legal professionals and its contributions to China’s cause of building a socialist country based on the rule of law.
He called on the university to make further contributions to the country’s political, legal, economic and cultural developments as well as the building of a harmonious society.
First founded in 1952 as the Peking College of Political Science and Law, the CUPL has so far educated and trained more than 200,000 graduates and serves as an important center for legal education, research, information and exchanges as well as legislative and policy advisory services in China.
