The Philippines renamed Chinese Huangyan island

According to the newspaper “Manila Bulletin” published on May 3, a spokesman for Philippine President Edwin Lasierda said that the Philippines renamed the Chinese island Huangyan “Panatag Shoal”.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman has repeatedly stated that the island Huangyan is native Chinese territory and water area around it is a traditional fishing area for Chinese fishermen. China’s determination to resolve the dispute with the Philippines around the island Huangyan through diplomatic consultations remains unchanged. The Chinese side urges the Philippine side to return to the track for a diplomatic solution to the dispute. Any words and actions that complicate the situation will not help to resolve the disputed issue.
