The total output value of Chongqing’s auto industry reached 80.68 billion yuan in the first quarter of 2012, up 5.8 percent year-on-year, according to Chongqing Economy and Informatization Commission on April 23, 2012.
The national total output value of auto industry decreased by 4.9 and 6 percent respectively in January and February 2012, as a result of governmental micro-control and tight financial policies, the slowdown of the GDP growth rate, the withdrawal of preferential policies and some others.
Under such a background, the total output value of auto industry in Chongqing reached 51.33 billion yuan from January to March, down 1.7 percent year-on-year.
The slump in Chongqing’s auto industry, however, was cushioned by a number of backbone enterprises like Chang’an Ford in March. The total output value reached 33.66 billion yuan in March, up 11.2 percent year-on-year.
