Jia Qinglin starts a six-day visit to Thailand

China’s top political advisor, Jia Qinglin, has met with the governor of Thailand’s Phuket Island, Tri Augkaradacha, kicking off a six-day visit to the country.

Jia said Phuket has played a major role in the long friendship between Thailand and China as it has been a key port for bilateral trade. He added that the two countries have established a strategic cooperative partnership, which offers opportunities for exchanges between Phuket and Chinese cities.

The Phuket governor says the island, renowned for its tourism resources, is welcoming more Chinese tourists and businesses to Phuket. Thailand is the last stop of Jia Qinglin’s three-nation tour, which has already taken him to New Zealand and Brunei.
