China arrested five people suspected of human organ trafficking

China has arrested a group of five people suspected of human organ trafficking. The detainees are suspected buying a kidney last year from a 17-year-old, who tried to find some money to buy the products of Apple – iPhone and iPad.

As it became known, the teenager was contacted by the suspects through the online forum, arranged the transaction and received about 3 thousand dollars for kidney. The illegal operation was accidentally learned by the mother of a teenager, and later reported to the police.

The resale of the kidney on the black market brought the detainees about 35 thousand dollars of income.

It is worth noting that there is a severe shortage of organ donors in China. According to official data from China’s Ministry Of Health, every year more than half a million people are in need of transplants, but actually only around 10 thousand had operations done.
