Chongqing will successively construct 23 river-crossing bridges for rail transit or dual purposes during the period of “12th five-year plan” according to Chongqing urban-rural construction commission on February 7. After the completion, Chongqing will become a city with the most rail transit bridges in China.
Chongqing has put 2 bridges into operation for rail transit, among which Caiyuanba-Yangtze Bridge applies the dual-purpose construction method and it is also the first urban river-crossing bridge for highway and light rail.
In addition, there are 3 rail transit bridges under intense construction. And the 3 bridges are to be open to traffic by the end of 2013. Moreover, Chongqing will successively witness 18 rail transit bridges in the next 3 years.
