Chongqing to become model city for cross-straits exchanges

During the “NPC and CPPCC”, Li Yuefeng, member of CPPCC and head of Chongqing Committee of Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League, points out that efforts will be made to establish Chongqing as a model city in western China that connects the mainland and Taiwan.

According to Li, Chongqing is historically privileged with a kinship bond attached to Taiwan (80,000 local households have Taiwan-based relatives). As many famous Taiwan IT companies such as Acer, ASUS, Foxconn move in, Chongqing has become one of the attracting lands accumulating intensive Taiwan investment and the first place for merchants to consider where to put the money.

As far as Li believes, Chongqing’s becoming the model city plays is to bring forward the connection and cooperation between the whole West China and Taiwan and to prompt a mutual peaceful development.
