Meteor shower in Western China

BEIJING, Feb. 22, meteor shower took place in Chinese western province Qinghai. The weight of the largest meteorite found on site was 12.5 kilograms.

No injuries or damage report. According to witnesses, before the Meteor shower in the sky, explosions were heard, and the fall of meteorites was accompanied by a glow and smoke, as large meteorite fell into small pieces by the heat in the atmosphere.

In July last year, a similar meteor shower was recorded in Morocco. Experts have found that fallen meteorites – origin from Mars. According to them, the meteor shower is the result of a large asteroid collision on the Red Planet.

The total weight of meteorite found in the desert of Morocco was at least 11 kg. The total weight of the Martian origin meteorites on Earth is estimated at 100 kg.
