
Chongqing proposed to complete the largest cloud computing center in China for the first time in January 2011. The construction of “Liangjiang International Cloud Computing Center”, the largest cloud computing pilot area in China, was started in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area on April 6, 2011.
Liangjiang International Cloud Computing Center enjoys a construction area of 2.07 million square meters and a total investment of 40 billion yuan. It is expected to be completed in 5 years and finally reaches a scale of over 100 billion yuan. There will be a about 3-kilometer data computer rooms conforming to the international standards in the core area.
Chongqing will strive to make Chongqing Cloud Computing Data Processing Center the largest cloud computing base in China or even in Asia in 3 years, according to Huang Qifan, mayor of Chongqing, at the signing ceremony of the largest software supplier–Neusoft Group’s settling in Chongqing in June 2011.
