Chinese Vice President says China supports stability of euro

China supports the stability of the euro and the eurozone, visiting Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping told Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny on Sunday evening.

During his talks with Kenny at the renowned Dublin Castle, Xi said China attaches importance to the status of the euro, and China is optimistic about the prospect of the euro, and China supports the euro’s stability and the eurozone.

“We believe that the European Union (EU) has the ability, wisdom and means to push forward relevant reforms and adjust itself to overcome the current difficulties,” he said.

“China will continue to support, in its own way, the efforts of the EU, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund in resolving the sovereign debt crisis in Europe,” Xi added.

He also said China encourages the EU to play an even bigger role in the international arena.

Europe is China’s biggest export market, and China has been concerned by the development of the debt problem in Europe. A stable euro is good for China.

Xi arrived in Ireland on Saturday for a 3-day official visit as Kenny’s guest.
