A forest fire that broke out five days ago in Yunnan province has been extinguished, local fire fighting authorities announced Sunday.
First sighted Tuesday morning on a mountain in Hongta district of Yuxi, the fire raced through more than 33 hectares of forest that day, said the district’s forest fire prevention headquarters on Sunday.
The authorities managed to contain the fire Thursday morning, however, it was rekindled by strong winds and warm temperatures.
The fire was again extinguished around 3 p.m. Friday, and not rekindled in the following 48 hours, said the statement.
No casualties had been reported and the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
