Festival Directors Expected to Gather at Beijing Int’l Film Festival

The organizing committee of the 2nd Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) has announced that the directors of fifteen foreign film festivals have confirmed that they will be attending this year’s event, chinesefilm.cn reports.

At last year’s festival, Director of the Venice International Film Festival (VIFF) Marc Muller, vice-Director of the Berlin International Film Festival (BIFF) Thomas Heller, Director of the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) Tom Yoda and 19 other chairpersons of prominent international film festivals participated in the section named “Dialogue between Directors of International Film Festivals”.

During the forum, the group discussed how to help promote the diversity of world cinema with Chinese filmmakers, and in doing so provided a great amount of inspiration for the domestic film industry.

This year, several previous participants will attend the event along with a group of newcomers.

The guests include the Directors of the VIFF, Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Warsaw International Film Festival (WIFF), Hong Kong International Film Festival, Hawaii International Film Festival, Salonika International Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival, Montreal International Film Festival, Golden Horse Awards of Taiwan and the Busan International Film Festival.

Furthermore, nine representatives from foreign film industry associations will also make an appearance at the 2nd BJIFF to enhance the diversity of the festival and share their understanding of cross-cultural communication and cooperation.
