The French government has welcomed the decision made by the World Trade Organization on China’s appeal for its restrictive policies in the export of certain raw materials (bauxite, coke, fluorine, magnesium, manganese, silicon, carbon silicon metal, yellow phosphorus and zinc). The European Union had initiated proceedings in 2009, which resulted in a condemnation of China in 2011 at first instance.
“The China’s policies created a distortion of competition by increasing world prices and thus ensuring the benefit of Chinese companies more competitive prices, especially in the sectors of steel, aluminum and chemicals. These measures penalize our companies and the consumers, “said in a statement of the French Ministry of Industry.
