Chongqing’s GDP growth rate ranks No.1 in China

On January 19th Chongqing Statistics Bureau released the official economic statistics of Chongqing. Chongqing Municipality’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew 16.4% from 2010 to 1.001113 trillion yuan in 2011, the growth rate ranks first in China.

In 2011, 23 provinces has reached over one trillion yuan GDP, namely: Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shandong, Zhejiang, Henan, Hebei, Liaoning, Sichuan, Shanghai, Hunan, Hubei, Fujian, Beijing, Anhui, Inner Mongolia , Heilongjiang, Shanxi, Tianjin, Guangxi, Shanxi, Jiangxi, Chongqing, Jilin. Among them, Guangdong reached more than 5 trillion yuan, Jiangsu and Shandong recorded more than four trillion yuan, Zhejiang, Henan, Hebei, Liaoning, Sichuan passed 2 trillion yuan level.

Chongqing’s economy has maintained stable and relatively fast growth with a good start for the 12th “Five-Year Plan” period, according to Chongqing Statistics Bureau. The GDP gets a growth of over 15% at present, much faster than the annual 11.9 % since the establishment of the municipality.

The local prices keep high but lower than the national average level. The consumers price index (CPI) in 2011 rose 5.3% year on year.
