China’s helicopter crashed in Antarctic expedition

According to the report from China’s 28th Antarctic scientific expedition, on December 8 at 21:20 Antarctic local time, China’s “Snow Eagle” helicopter crashed and damaged on sea ice, the helicopter lost control in the mission and failed forced landing.

Two crew members on the helicopter were out of danger, one of them got mild abrasions. The State Oceanic Administration has ordered the suspension of all work activities of the expedition to carry out accident investigation and debris collection.

The helicopter “Snow Eagle” (B-7810) was bought from Russia in December 2008. This is the third Antarctic mission of the helicopter. the cause of the accident is under investigation.
