China / Germany: discussions between senior diplomats on bilateral relations

The Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Fu Ying held political consultation with the State Secretary of German Foreign Affairs Ministry, Emily Haber, Friday in Beijing, and both sides agreed to further promote bilateral relations.

They exchanged views on Sino-German, Sino-European relations, and other topics of mutual interest, according to a statement provided by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ms Fu said that China attaches great importance to the position and role of Germany in Europe. In the context of the current international situation, the expansion of bilateral cooperation serves the fundamental interest of both countries and contribute to peace and development in the world, she added.

Ms. Haber said the German government is pleased with the progress of bilateral cooperation in various fields. She called for joint efforts to promote substantial cooperation in the fields of trade, investment and culture.
