China has always respected the choice of the Libyan people and the Sino-Libyan relationship will continue to develop to a new level, said Jiang Yu, spokesperson of Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs at a daily press conference on Friday.
China has maintained normal diplomatic relations with Libya and cooperation between the two countries was conducted on the basis of mutual respect and benefit. “China unswervingly respects the choice of the Libyan people and the important role of the National Transitional Council of Libya in resolving problems,” said Jiang Yu. “We want Libya to establish an inclusive process of political transition to safeguard the solidarity and national unity, “she said.
China will continue to support the efforts of the Libyan people to rebuild their country. Jiang Yu said Friday in a commentary on the death of the former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, “Libya has opened a new chapter in its history. The Chinese Embassy in Libya is working properly and China maintains normal communications with relevant parties,” she said during the press conference.
China has long adopted an objective and impartial position on the situation in Libya. China has always called for the cessation of armed conflict and peaceful resolution of problems through dialogue.
She also added that China has maintained close contacts with countries and organizations in the Middle East and Africa, and made a constructive contribution to resolving the issues.
