The 2010 Confucius Peace Prize award ceremony.

The Ministry of Culture of China abolished the “Confucius Peace Prize“, established by a group of individuals and nongovernmental organizations.

The notice was issued by the Ministry of Culture of China, saying that the award was abolished due to “violations of the relevant provisions.” Group of award organizers, known as the “department for the protection of national traditional arts and traditional culture,” also dismissed.

“There were too many awards and honors, including those illegal and unprofessional ones. These activities must follow the legal procedures,” – says the newspaper Global Times.

Earlier this month the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China also stated that the award was established by the nongovernmental organization.
